Suspension of Drug Quality: Licenses of 18 Pharma Companies Temporarily Revoked

The central government cancelled 18 licenses of pharma companies due to the low quality of their drugs. After the Drug Controller General of India had inspected over 76 pharmaceutical firms, the crackdown was launched. According to reports, 26 companies were served with a show-cause notice due to the low quality of their medicines.

According to reports, the Centre also cancelled the product manufacture permission of three pharmaceutical firms.

According to the source, this crackdown was the result of a joint effort between the Centre and states in which the action against 20 states’ pharma companies. The special campaign was launched to stop the production of “Not of Standard Quality” medicine and ensure Good Manufacturing Practices of medicines across the country.

Inspections are being conducted in response to reports that local -produced drugs can cause illness and even death when taken by people from other countries. According to reports, a Gujarat-based drug manufacturer recently ran into trouble when its medicine failed the impurities specifications.

According to reports, three employees from a pharmaceutical company in Noida were arrested for allegedly causing the deaths of 18 Uzbek children last year with their cough syrup.

False drugs on the market are not only a danger to locals, but they can also be a problem for internationals if they are exported. Spurious drugs fail in attaining standard quality. Spurious drugs are those that have a name similar to that of another drug or that may not pass the standard quality test.
